Everybody's situation varies. If all you have is a handful of workstations and your own to manage, no big deal. However, if you have a lot of users (I have 85), it's not practical to rely on the end user to install software. In fact, it's something I like to discourage more often than not.

If it's a Windows computer, look in the windows registry under either: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORL\WinVNC3\Default or HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ORL\WinVNC3\Default in there there may be a DWORD value called AllowProperties. If there is, either delete it or change the value to 1, then

Is anyone here any good with linux and VNC? I am trying to get it to work, however had no luck. I beleive it has to do with the firewall that is installed. The linux box is inside my network with a single nic, and is not exposed to the outside. how do I drop the firewall?
