Greetings all,
Have read through the notes and found myself at M$ support looking up the
registry settings to open up the ports closed by M$ ICS. By temporarily
disabling ICS it allowed me to connect with VNC and open up ports as per
documented link below..

Hi folks,
Problem in a nutshell-- My "/sbin/init.d/vnc" vncserver script works just
fine if I'm logged into "root" on my UNIX box and issue "/sbin/init.d/vnc
start". I can connect via a VNC client accordingly, and I'm displayed what
I expect from my "xstartup" script. But, when my "/sbin/rc3

Thanks. Adding Start to the command worked just fine.
Also, you can use Task Scheduler to schedule it at

can actually put the d:\EnrtecDP\ultravnc\vncviewer

Sorry, no client certificates. The version of TinySSL that the applet viewer

I am trying to connect to a win 98 vncserver from a redhat linux box. I continue to
get VNC authentication failed. I have set the password in both the user and default
sections of the server. The windows box is set up not to require a password on boot.
I have searched the archives and can no

Hello,
I work with remote support and I usualy access some clients with VNC. In
this case, my client have the VNC server instaled on a Windows NT and I make
a connection using VNC Viewer on a machine with Win9x. In the middle of the
way I have a Linux (Red Hat 7.2) that makes the gateway to access
We are having a problem with using VNC with W2K Server.
The sever in question is an IBM Netfinity 5500 with dual 600 MHz processors and 512 M

We are trying to move processes from a Windows 9x machine to the W2K machine for

Hi there,
I'm a first time user. I downloaded and installed the WinVNC Version 3.3.7 and I can
view computers on the same LAN.
The problem is that whenever I want to view via a browser, it will give the error
"java.io.IOException: Localloop-back connections disabled" and will just stop.

I think you will need to have the computer log in someone. I think the
startup folder in program menu should do fine. Now for the batch file
not closing try this line in the batch file (I only added the start).
Start d:\EnrtecDP\ultravnc\vncviewer -listen -config
d:\EnrtecDP\ultravnc\EnrTecDP.vnc

Thanks everyone for your help. It was a Terminal
Services issue. Once I followed some of the steps
from a few of these emails and rebooted, everything
worked.
I kept trying to stop and start the service from
within Terminal Services and that was really the
problem
Thank you,
Jeff

Roland,
The tooltip issue is a known one under XP and will be fixed in the next
release.
Animated cursors are deliberately disabled because they would chew
bandwidth and are usually just eye-candy.

Hi all,
Fristly, apologies for spamming the list. and to all you non-Windows users
- stop reading now you won't find the following of interest. :-)
I've updated the Fastpush to 6.4 and it includes:
- password encoding at the command prompt
- UltraVNC 1.09
- removed the older VNC flavours from t
The important thing if you are running Terminal Services is that the service
ONLY remotes the console, and is not accessible from any other TS session.
So you *must* be logged on to the machine's console to be able to run
winvnc -settings, etc.
To configure WinVNC from within a TS session, you can
Hello all,
I have just installed WinVNC Server 3.3.7 onto a Windows XP
box and WinVNC Viewer 3.3.7 onto a Windows 98 box and
have encountered a minor problem.
Tooltips do not appear on the remote display (although they
do appear on the local display). Tooltips are normally very

Jeff,
I'm interested in the issues Users logged in with Terminal Services
have whilst interacting with NT Services.
I didn't see the April 2002 message - could you give an URL to it in:
