Hi All,
I met a problem when configing realvnc in xinetd and couldn't get the answer to
resolve it.
Could you please help to look at it?
Linux Server : Redhat Linux 9.0 (both kde and gnome were installed)
VNC Server :Real VNC 3.3.7 X86 Linux (binary tarball)
VNC Viewer :Real VNC Viewer

They're separate machines, so I'm hoping there is some package I forgot
to install, or some config option that needs to be set so I can have
anti-aliased fonts
I'm forwarding this here just in case you guys have any ideas...
Thanks

Both depend entirely on what Window Manager you are using and nothing to
do with VNC. These are probably better asked in the mailing list for
whatever Window Manager you are using.

Hello!
I seem to be missing something very basic about setting up VNC - I'm not sure
it's even quite what I'm looking for. At school, we have remote X access using
Cygwin (on the client machine)... When you connect to the server, you receive
the graphical login screen (the "Greeter").

I've two simple issues that I request you to help me with:

so that it comes into focus if I click anywhere in the window (just like in

Have you started a server on :2?
$ netstat -a
Ok.
Say a user is logged in using 192.168.1.1:1
that's the display host name. In theory /practice,
another user can logging simultaneously using
192.168.1.1:2, however, it gives the "failed to

We need information! What command are you typing? What errors are you
getting?
Does the "8" (for instance) in the connection info on viewer tell me 8 colors,
or 8 bit color?
I assumed 8 bit until I saw the post about a default of 64 colors on one
system.

Hi All,
Running Win NT SP5, Real VNC version 3.3.7. When we reboot this server
the password authentication for VNC fails until we login to Windows. Tried

You could do a Google search using "automatic screen capture" and you'll find
a lot of softwares. Then choose the one which supports command line. Schedule it and
you're done.

Please read the documentation, especially the sections about
"ConnectPriority" and "Shared".

The icon is hard-coded in the server. One way, or maybe the only way, is to
change the icon in source code and recompile your own.

William,
The VNC server is already installed & functioning in a
REd hat linux 9 system. I can connect to it remotely
and it works just fine. I do quite a lot of work using

Hi All,
Had such a great response from my last question, I thought I'd ask another.
When I remotely connect to a pc I ask the user to hover their mouse over the VNC icon
in the system tray (to accertain the IP address). The problem is identifying it easily
to non it literate users.
Is there
Hi,
is there a program which can make a screenshot of a machine which is
running vnc server and do this every hour?
I mean without connecting and making the screenshot manually.
Thanx

Ibve downloaded the bstand-aloneb VNC viewer 4b4 and Ibve a few problems /
questions on it.
* My VNC viewer 4 uses 64 colours by default. I need 256 colours because with
some applications it becomes very hard to read whatbs written. Where can I set this
optionbs default choice?
*
Why is that when I try to connect to a server using VNC, already connected
connections are getting disconnected.
Is there any solution for this.

Hi there
I seem to have a little problem that is quite annoying at times. When I run
a program on the host, that program often seems to stall if WinVNC's window
