James,
Thanks for the help. That is exactly what I am looking for. Now I only
need to autolog the machine with VNCSever. I know it is not advisable
but sometimes I need to temporarily do this especially if I am fixing
the machine which is very very far away and with not user around. I only

I finally got my Linux Fedora3 box to work as a vncserver with native

windowsXP machine, it causes the Fedora3 box to hang. The amount of
time it takes for the Fedora3 machine to hang varies, but its

I have not had this issue before but you should repost with details, such as
Server OS and Version at least would help generate a bigger response.

Well, the situation is different depending on the circumstances please
provide the following info and we can help:
1. your computer's OS
2. Your connection to the internet's type (DSL, Cable, Dialup, etc)
3. Whether or not there is a router on you end
4. your brother's #1
5. your brother
Try looking for support of "VPN Pass thru" on the router. Otherwise I
would look into general vpn issues with your router and the particular
type of vpn client you are using googleing around might get you
started.
If you need some more help i can help with vnc but i dont do much vpn work.

Hi All,
Can anyone tell me the best way to automate the installation of VNC4 server
only to about 300 NT4 workstations? I've had a look through the older posts
but they all seem to relate to the older versions i.e. 3...
Thanks in advance for any help
Simon.
I am a new user, with the free version of VNC installed on my pc and my
brother's pc, which is 40miles away. How could I connect to his pc on the
internet? Any help will be Appreciated.

Some time between vnc-4.0b4 vnc-4.0, my ability to build vncviewer under IRIX
6.5 got lost. I've got the beta viewer running, but haven't been able to
upgrade to the latest versions.
The code compiles, but the build dies in the loader. There seems to be a
problem with missing identifiers:
TightVNC (www.tightvnc.com) dev version 1.3 does offer file
transfer. HOWEVER, it's still rather unstable which is why it's a
development version still.

Jose,
This is an issue with our build process - our binaries only work with
HP-UX 11.00. We have been offered some help in rectifying this problem,
and hope to have 4.1.1 binaries for HP-UX 11.00 and 11.11 shortly.
Cheers,

Ahh... Well, is there any way to force the ~/.vnc/xstartup to be read

John,
I've tried CDE, Openwindows and Failsafe logins, and they all do the
same! Bear in mind that I'm using XDMP to do the login, so my
~/.vnc/xstartup script never gets read.
Also I'm on Solaris 8, so CDE or OpenWindows are my only options (I
don't really want to download & install GNOME!)

Different window manager? :-) Seriously, ISTR reading several other CD

Miroslav,
We're aware of this problem and are working to resolve it - it's actually
worse than tat, in that the current HP-UX binaries for 4.1 that we provide
will work on HP-UX 11.00 with libstdc++ but not on HP-UX 11.11, even if
statically linked.
The problem with statically linking the binarie
Since this appears to be a font problem, please can you let me know
which fonts VNC needs access to on Solaris, and I'll try only specifying
them.
I never saw a response to this. So I thought I'd kick in my $0.02.
I am running VNC4.0 on Solaris 8 (2/04), via inetd. My inetd.conf
