Unless I am missing something - couldn't you create a new connection from the
MSWindows Connection Wizard and set a fixed IP address for the laptop? Then
use the new (fixed IP) connection for connecting to this network and the
default dhcp connection at other times?
PS. I am not in front of a

I can start it from boot. However, when I try to do it fr a script in
/etc/init.d, the system prompts for login and boot waits there. How to overcome
