If not, I'd be interested to know more precisely what is going on here.

a bit beyond her (sorry, that's not intended to be condescending).
Is there some flavour of VNC which will do this? It needs to be *very* simple
for her to install.
Would I be better off using Windows Remote Assistance? Something else?

Hmmm.
Interesting that the source is only available *after* the executable.
Is this a new definition of reverse engineering ;-)

I'm using Free VNC 4.1.1 on XP and my logmessages.dll is 17KB and has Date
Modified 11 March 2005.
Different .dll for different VNCs perhaps?

my LAN.
When I hover the mouse over the VNC icon in the system tray it shows that it
is listening on both those IP addresses.
Is there some way I can stop/start the server listening on the internet? Even
though I have set a VNC password, I'm still concerned about security ...

users sees the VNC system tray icon. The other two users
don't.
Why, please?
Oh, I am using fast user switching but connectivity is no problem across my
2-machine LAN.

n I can happily double click
programs/sub-folders to execute/open them. It's only the desktop icons that
don't respond to double clicking.
It's weird.
And it didn't happen with my previous version which I think was 3.3
Any ideas?
