You could try routing your /dev/audio through a shoutcast server (http://www.shoutcast.com/download/serve.phtml) and playing back on the VNC clients with XMMS. The sound will probably be great, but the VNC multiplexed video will be less than satisfactory due to the nature of VNC screen refresh for
