We probably need to clear up a few things here:
You didn't need to purchase MacDrive8 so you could format the drive to HFS+
(which is the preferred Mac format) you could have done that on the Mac
using the Apple Disk Utility which you can find in the Utilities folder

Guidelines available using iSolo.
I see that iSolo is available for various mobiles PDS's and I think
iPad.

As with the VHS to DVD converter I posted earlier I seem to recall that
question regarding this sort of gear has come up from time to time so thought
it may be of interest to some.
BigPond members offer this morning but I guess these things are available
