Hi Jennifer, You have possibly damaged the screen, even a slight hairline fracture will let splodges appear. It will get worse I imagine, but I have no idea how long before so. You can get a screen replacement but again I don't know what the cost would be to Repair the iPod.c Cheers, Ronni
