In Mail - Preferences
Click on Compose icon.
There will be a choice something like "Send new messages from " and a drop down
menu. Choose the account you want to be the default one.
Close the Preferences window.
Done.

I have several e-mail accounts.
Can't find a way of setting a particular e-mail as the default address, the one
that usual comes when you select New Message.
any suggestions?

Please consider the environment before
My 12 yo's MacBook has refused to boot up after shutting down in the normal way
a few nights ago.
I am remote so trying to resolve this remotely from him is a bit challenging.
I did a quick google and it suggested to try boot up in Safe mode.
He tried this but screen stays on the grey screen

Well I left the Mac and iPad alone for more than 24 hours - both turned on - no
change on the iPad, the 7 songs still ghosted out.
I will leave for the moment, I would imagine that my fiddling around has
probably interfered with some of the settings Daniel had put in place last
year,
