Creeping system memory use

Hi: I'm running an iMac at home on system 9.2 (connected up via ASDL to iiNet). I've noticed that the memory allocation to the system creeps up progressively with use until we get a message saying that the finder is out of memory. Rebuilding the desktop and/or directory with DiskWarrior resets
