firewire has a loop capability like usb normally external units have 2 ports which allow to loop through, my powerbook has 1x fw800 & 1x fw400, to use my 800 port i bought a 800 to 400 conversion cable, on this i connect up to 10 harddisks & at the end i have my 16 channel audio recording rac
