Still could be a flakey Firewire 800 port, or perhaps could be a software or
incorrect setting on the 27-inch iMac Yosemite.
Are you using Path Finder 7.6?
Check your PF settings to make sure you don’t have this checked.

I would suggest you have a dead Firewire 800 Port unfortunately.
As a last resort you could try - unplug the iMac for 15 seconds, then on
Startup zap the PRAM (Command-Option-P-R) for three boots. Then test the
Firewire 800 Port.

When connected to the FW800 port do they show in System Profiler: under

10.10.5, with one Firewire 800 port which does not work.
