Your email address is not 'poached', & won't be 'poached', unless you have
answered a question that people are searching for using Google or another
search engine.
How people are finding mine is they do a search on 'Google' for a particular
subject, one that I have answered or done
Agree. Fortunately so far my address has not been poached by non-list
users.
However I still feel that on the WAMUG list each user should be able
to make his/her address accessible to who ever that person wants e.g.
none, list only, general etc.

I've just had a look at the archives. I didn't even know that ability existed -
obviously I've never scrolled down that far. I agree with you in that it should
not be there unless we want it or not at all.

Internet through the WAMUG archives. Most online forums that I use only allow
access to participants' user names, and participants have a choice of being

The emails are not coming from WAMUG Mailing List Members. They are coming from
people who have used Google to search on a subject, and have been directed to
my replies on the WAMUG Archives.
Where they then read my answers to questions on WAMUG Su
Perhaps add a message to the fact that you don't answer personal queries next
to your name in your e-mail signature?
Alternatively set up a keyboard macro to auto-reply referring them back to the
mailing list.
Or tell them your hourly e-mail consultation rate and ask if they'd like to
continu
Not an idea solution... but why don't you setup yourself a separate
email address use on the WAMUG list... and keep a separate address for
'client only' queries and responses (and never post that here)
But the longer term solution is to kill the 'reply via email' option
from the archive.
