Be very, very careful of Kyocera. We have FS1000 and it has never
been good, in OS9 or OS X. OS9 drops headers a cm or 2, effectively
printing off bottom of page. OS X gives this plus corrupted text on
2nd and subsequent pages.
Hmm... Good to know it's not just our Kyocera then. The
I think Kyocera (and other cheap lasers) don't have true Postscript,
they use a Postscript clone. So strange printing artifacts may
result.
I've always liked the HP 2100N and 2200N printers myself.

Having used Postscript lasers since 1987 I have ALWAYS looked for
genuine Postcript. Andrew is dead right - steer clear of any Postscript
clone. I think they have got better over the years but I've never seen
one that doesn't cause grief, usually when you least need it.

Printers for MacOS-X (regarding drivers, usability etc)?

I own an Epson Stylus 740 and that works fine on OS X. Fully supported
by the OS (I didn't have to download any drivers). You probably
wouldn't get this model but you could use this example as a guideline.
