OK .. going to sleep .. that's what stopped the download !
Anyway that probably saved me from myself.
I decided some time ago NOT to do this and wait for the Ivy Bridge iMac.
Then I became impatient and tried to download it anyway.
I only have 3GB of RAM and have no intention of changing that on

How much RAM do you have installed on the iMac?
You need 4GB to download Lion.
Also stop your computer from going to sleep until after you have downloaded and
installed Lion. Change this in System Preferences.

Yesterday, after months of deliberation if I should or should not install Lion
on my iMac 2.16Ghz, I decided I would bite the bullet. I have been concerned
that it might slow my older iMac down too much.
So at 2:45 pm yesterday I began the download.
