Photos library
gets called up when opening Photos. The Photos library is on an external drive.
I have gone through the process of using Option when opening, directing it to
the externally located Photos library, then in Prefs, making sure it is
selected as the System library.
Now though, if I
incompatible file system or if the drive has been
used with Time Machine.
“If a Photos library is located on an external drive, don’t use Time Machine to
store a backup on that external drive. The permissions for your Photos library
may conflict with those for the Time Machine backup.”
After moving
Thanks Ronni, the external drive is formatted as Mac OS Extend journaled and
used exclusively for the Photos library and nothing else currently. The Time
Machine Backup of Joanne’s MBP (with External drive included in the backup) is
wirelessly to the Time Capsule onboard 3TB internal drive

You might find this handy to check you did everything correctly when originally
transferring the Photos Library to the external and setting as System Photo
Library.

Hi Ronni, yes the “Use as System Photo Library” is greyed out which is why it
is strange to me that the attribute doesn’t perpetuate for subsequent opening
of the ext drive Photos library.

Well this is a first for me … encountering an issue with a new macOS.
I am being asked to repair Photos Library.
Having agreed to do that and performing the exercise apparently successfully, I
get the message
“Photos was unable to open the library”.(1000)
Any suggestions please
working OK, why not just try cloning
the old drive to the new drive. I use SuperDuper for cloning and it should be a
simple process.

First off, I do not use Apple’s photo app and I am still at El
Capitan (the latest OSX THIS machine can run) – so all I can offer
is a more general thought/approach – rather than hands

Hi Daniel, thanks for that. Will see what we can do to repair any disk
error. Given the previous disk failure (likely caused by the attempt
to copy the Photos library to it) I am not positive about success in
this. But I have CCC and hopeful that if I can rescue the disk
firstly, then hopefully
mind should the relevant circumstances arise!

Photos - my
preferred Photos Library is listed as the System Photo Library, and reselecting
it doesn’t change anything.
This is the same on both desktop machines running Catalina.
I’m also having wake up from sleep issues, but will try a PRAM and SMC reset as

Hi, I took a slo-mo video using my wifes iPhone and imported it to
'her' MacBook Photos library. All going fine. Then I wanted to get
that Slo-mo video into 'my' Photos library on 'my' Macbook. This was
along with aound 300 other photos and regular video files.
The
Click Export
Photos will tell you when the exports have completed
Then Import all Files into Photos library on the other Mac
