sorry your calculation has a small mistake, in serial connection (which broadband is) there are a start bit - 8 data bits - a stop bit which are 10 bits per data byte, thus thus kbp/s divided by 10 gives KBp/s, additionally if there are server delays and many other things (noise) sitting on

Hi Martin, Well, Broadbandnet say their Satellite "always on' Broadband Internet access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The basic connection speed is 512 kbps download & 64 Kbs upload." As there are 8Kb (kilobits) in every KB (kilobyte) ... and you are saying you are downloading at 46KBps
