I decided to revert and followed your instructions with no problems except step
3.
I deleted both apps from iTunes and the iPhone, confirming both deletes. When I
started step 3 to sync the iPhone minus Bento, up popped a message box saying
that the iPhone had downloaded items

I should have mentioned. That message that you received when syncing implies
that you either purchased or updated an app directly on your iPhone without a
corresponding purchase or updated on iTunes. The updated app would have been
transferred to iTunes. If Bento was correctly

have a painless way to revert to the older version that you just recovered from
Trash. It is easy enough so I will detail it here to give you the option. The
file you recovered should have a .ipa
