Last night on Lawrence Welk, they sang the song that Andy, Helen, Howard and
Alice Harper sang up at her family's cabin when she came back to town;

What Maybe Means to Me by George Lindsey
(from Goober in a Nutshell BY Ken Beck and Jim Clark, 1995)
Mayberry is going to church on Sunday,
and then after church going to the drugstore for a cherry Coke.
It's sitting around the barber shop reading the sports page,
and getting a shoe shine,
and
Goober, you were always the person I wanted as my nextdoor neighbor (except for
the times when you worked on five cars simultaneously in the driveway). I
don't know how to pay a higher compliment. Your departure has left another
profound loss in our community. Guess I'll have to wait
I had the extreme pleasure of having lunch with George, as did a handful of
other members, several years back. We were actually celebrating Doug Dillard's
birthday. Thanks to Jim Clark and our own Allan, we were treated to a surprise
lunch guest in the person of Goober himself. This was one of
I know we are all hurting hearing the news of everyone's friend George Lindsey.
For me the perfect therapy is watching the episode Goober takes a car
apart. I may also watch Mans best friend He Is so good with his supposed
talking dog.
Keep up the good work Ken. You are funny and also a
although he was not at the top of my list of favorites on the show, goober
and the art of love is for me one of the best episodes of the entire
series.goober and barney on that front porch watching andy and helen on the
couch is pure gold.they dont make comedy like that anymore.RIP
