Nice job everybody on naming several various types of birds mentioned in
Mayberry. Here is a list of the ones correctly named so far:
Albatross
Canary
Chicken (includes roosters)
Crow (both shot at and "eaten")
Duck
Eagle
Goose
Hawk
Loon
Mockingbird
Owl
Parakeet
Pheasant
Quail
Songbird
Starling
I am enjoying my copy of the new Mayberry R.F.D. dvd's!
So far, the episodes appear to include the entire show - no scenes missing.
All previous episodes I've seen are the syndicated copies, which are missing a
few minutes each. It is also nice to see the higher-quality picture - and no
TV
I know one thing about birds: it makes no sense to ask Barney Fife to
recite the lines to a song--no more so than it would to tell a bird just to
go, "Chirp chirp"!

Hmmm, I can't think of a single times aviary animals were mentioned.

> Opie's pet bird Dickie (which we never saw)
We do see Dickie. When Opie recuses himself to his bedroom from the dinner
table (with chicken and biscuits) Andy comes up to ask why he returned from the
kitchen to find Opie's plate was clean. Opie said he brought his dinner to
Dickie. Andy walks
I don't think anyone has yet mentioned Winkin', Blinkin', and Nod -- so
I guess I'll mention it! Also, don't forget Uncle Ollie's goose down
pillow.

Do the Mayberry RFD DVDs have any special features? If not then I probably
won't be buying them. I recorded them all about 20 years ago when the show was
on TNT and I can just watch those copies should the mood strike.
I never was a big fan of RFD, but I watch it once in a great while for the
Birds.

Lots of good places to eat in Mayberry. Morning, noon, and night. Tasty food,
nice atmosphere, pleasant surroundings, are reasons why I enjoy lunching at the
Mayberry drugstore. Their "business man" special sure beats out the lunch
specials over at Granny's Happy Gizzard out west. Scooped out
On the subject of birds, I do recollect Opie telling Keevy Hazelton that the
diner special is chicken croquettes and that they're terrible.
