Happy Thanksgiving Mayberrians!
One enduring Mayberry mystery is the presence of a rather large boat
immediately behind the courthouse on the 40 acres lot. It seemed to be there
for several years, but I can't find anyone who knows why it was there. It
couldn't have been filmed while sitting there,
I want to give a special Mayberry shout out to Tom Kessel for his entry
regarding Howard McNear in Goober's Contest, Floyd's final appearance on
TAGS. I never knew that this particular episode was his last. I watched it
just last night and it was, truthfully, painful to see how bad his health
was
It seems an awful lot of people in Mayberry end up on television (or nearly
on it). Howard Sprague was on the amateur show, and Aunt Bea was on the tube
on several occasions. She did the cooking show, the Foster's commercials
that never actually aired (Hello, out there!), the Keevy Hazelton show
When Howard appeared on the amateur show, Andy remarked something like, Ed
Sullivan has nothing to worry about. Aside from historical figures (such as
Abraham Lincoln and Wyatt Earp), I'm wondering how many other real people
from the '60's era were mentioned on TAGS eps. Any ideas?

I'm not sure Barney ever had a stunt Double. How could they find
someone with his build?
I wonder if Burt Mustin was Barney's stunt double. Same brawny, musclebound
build. Burt might have been able to do the rough stuff but, remember, he
just couldn't holler.

Hi Friends,
OK, I may have fumbled the ball recently, but I know I'm right about this
one! In the episode where Ernest T. Bass wants a uniform, when Barney is
standing in front of the two workmen to protect the new window for the
courthouse, the camera shifts to Ernest T. a couple of times and
I wanted to relay my own little link to Mayberry, which happened over 40
years ago. When I was about 4 years old my family relocated from Flint
Michigan to Culver City California. For about 5 years my family lived in a
small house on Hubbard Street (either 9025 or 9052, I can't remember
exactly).
Shocking, it wasjust shocking. I just noticed on tonight's TV Land
episode Andy's English Valet, that our beloved deputy uttered a
near-expletive. As he was pulling Malcolm Merriweather off the hood of the
truck, Barney loudly said Get the hell off there! It was nearly lost in
the commotion of
when Opie and his friend were walking towards the house and throwing the
baseball, the house looks like it's standing in an isolated area.
The crew of TAGS really knew their stuff when it came to the haunted
house. If you look at the aerial shots of 40 acres you'll see that Aunt
Pittypat's house
In another episode, 'Barney On The Rebound' Crowley's Market is in place of
Monroe's Funeral Home.
It's only natural that a market would move into the old funeral home. They
already had a cooler!
