Speaking of A/C, who can forget how Melissa dimmed the lights to cool the room
off, much to Barn's amazement? :-)

Hey, Mayberry friends. How many times have we seen Andy covering his face or
mouth trying to cover laughter at Barney's antics? I'm just wondering, how many
times it was scripted or how many times it was real? We all know how well they
worked together, and Don Knotts was so funny that it
When I was a kid, I always thought it was Andy Taylor laughing at
Barney Fife. As an adult I firmly believe it was Andy Griffith
laughing at Don Knotts.

Did Barney ever go fishin' with Andy and Opie? I remember him going
with Floyd in Convicts at Large.

Perhaps Goob was turning into Barn, or more likely, was showing 'traces' of the
Fife genes (Calvin Fife?). I prefer to think it was the subtle way of saying
that there's no replacing Barn, and he was/is sorely missed!
Makes ya thank! :-)

I enjoy the episodes when Andy and Barn (and Aunt Bee once) are hanging out at
the City Dump.
The bent old car parts (Old Buzzy Leonard's, I believe), the Playboy-type mag
(BARNEY!! ... although Andy certainly enjoyed a good look or two at the female
form) and the all-around messy look. Reminds
Don't forget, Barn knew how to fight fire and how to out fox a fox.

If there was ever a person who could offer advice for our economic hardships
today, it would be Barn. Can you think of all the cost cutting measures that
Barn employed to watch his pennies pretty close?
Here's some I thought of:
1. Not having the salad AND the shrimp cocktail at Morelli's.

I seem to remember an episode where Barney is in a shed? or a barn?
something...on a stakeout. Something startles him, he says..I just swallowed my
gum. But which episode?
Barney said that line while in the barn with Eddie Brooke in Barney Gets His
Man Season
I always thought that Jerry Van Dyke would have been good to play the deputy
after Barney.

Yes, I agree.
Have you noticed this? What about having someone (Aunt Bee and Opie or Goober)
come down to the jailhouse to answer the phone when Sarah could have called the
Taylor house.
Also, Aunt Bea was clled in to be with the woman speeder (state requirement) -
and Andy and Barney alone
I remember a episode where he dresses as a woman to catch a shop lifter, or was
that a hunter with the hat with earmuffs ?
Ohh Yea, Barn dressed as a woman to catch the horse gambling thugs.in Floyd's
Barbershop.

Don Knotts has passed on to a much better place. But Barney Fife will never
die. He will live on in our memories and in the memories of generations to
follow us. Don Knotts created and brilliantly portrayed the most loved and most
unforgetable character in television history.

Without question the greatest character ever developed for TV was Barney
