I just watched the two carnival episodes and they both brought back a lot
of memories of me going to fairs and carnivals when I was young.
I recall especially one time when I took this special girl out for the
first time. I decided she might enjoy going to our county fair. It didn't

Every year our Winter Carnival has a contest for the best smelling man. I
have won the blue ribbon the past eight years. I know I am just an old
man, but whenever I get lonely I take out my scrap book and look at my
ribbons. And each year I try to smell a little bit better. And this year

Ithink that wetting the sight is supposeto cut down on the glare off the

Gary Cooper did this in Sergeant York (1941) I always figured that's where it
came from. A guy like Goober would defiantly imitate Gary Cooper shoot he
could walk like Chester, talk like Edward G Robinson and imitate Cary Grant he
might as well shoot like Gary Cooper.

It is time for our annual visit to the Northern Wisconsin State Fair and the
big carnival. I am taking my wife tomorrow and I have a big day planned. I
am hoping to win her a cupie doll, a ceramic pelican or a percolator at the
shooting gallery. I hope to win myself a razor and one of those
I was watching 'Opie and the Carnival' (4/26/1965) on DVD yesterday, and the
scene where Andy "cleans house" at the crooked shooting gallery elicited a
good laugh. This was accentuated by the con-artists dejected reactions at
Andy's marksmanship.
