I have the 15th issue of Mayberry magazine. About trivia on page 21 it says
the Andy Griffith Christmas episode aired on Dec 9th, 1960 and it was episode 9
of the first season.
4 other places I have found ( one of them being International Movie Database )

I have waited to add my opinion on Christmas episodes to see what others
though about the issue.
I think the reason, as others offered, was because of reruns. It is hard to
rerun seasonal episodes when that season is passed. People don't understand
why a Christmas episode is airing during the summ

about Christmas Episodes and the Lack of the Same. I have a Christmas Show
that I would have liked to have seen on TAGS. This would be entitled
"Christmas with the Darling Family" Andy and the Famil
About there only being one Christmas Show, I agree, I would've loved to see
one with Gomer, Goober and/or Floyd. In fact I wonder if "The Song Festers"
could've actually been reworked as a Christmas show, with the music in question
being some type of carol or Christma
