We must not forget all that money we saved when Aunt Bea bought all that meat
from some man other than Mr. Foley--and then the freezer acted up!? One of my
favorite episodes.."Call the man!"

Another cost cutting momentAunt Bee bought the side of beef from the
discount butcher and then loaded up Opies wagon to transport the meat,
followed by "a pack of yapping dogs"

Barn wasn't the only one to take rather drastic measures to save money:
1. Aunt Bee and her HUGE sack of sugar that was more economical.
2. Barney and Thelma Lou going "dutch" on dates ( well, that benefitted Barn
anyway)
3. Emma Brand getting the kind of illness that was cured by an Rx that on
