, but
there must be several folks here in our chapter who do genealogical research
please search 1928 or thereabouts for the names Frances Bavier and Russell
Carpenter and see if anything comes up. Since she was born in New York that's
as good a place as any to start.
Paul, I'd like to see
Hey, Mayberry friends. Last Saturday Dec. 14, was Frances Bavier's birthday.
How soon we forget. Happy Birthday! Aunt Bee!
Also, I happened to be up at 5:00 AM Monday and caught Rodney and the Dillard
Band on PBS. When I hear There is a Time, I get cold chills. Either that or
my snow cone is
Hi Gang,

Guess who?

Lets put that photo to rest...it is NOT Frances Bavier, it is Gloria

Our Aunt Bee was under a different real name, so it seems. From IMDB She is
actually listed in the credits as Hazel Howard. I got the DVD of the show
Dragnet (TV series)
1953-1955
Hazel Howard– The Big Confession(1955)… Hazel
For a different take on Frances Bavier's distinctive dramatic persona, check
out the movie Man in the Attic on YouTube, as she portrays a landlady who
gradually suspects her boarder (Jack the Ripper) of harboring a dark secret!
Happy Viewing

Greetings Fellow Mayberryites and Members of the Esquire Club and Direct
Descendants of Nathan Tibbs,
Just have to comment when I read about Frances Bavier and her background
(raised by older parents with mid 19th century values) how she was able to
do scenes like her Toot Toot Tootsie piano
I have come across an interview on YouTube with Frances Bavier after she
retired to Siler City, N.C. It may have been mentioned on the digest before but
I've never seen it. As a matter of fact, I don't think I have ever seen her out
of character. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v
Tom, I hadn't thought about that at all (how Frances B. must've felt when
her character had to drop a vase on a cat (actually Otis) in order to stop
its howling) but what a great point you made! Most of us know that Frances
was a BIG cat lover, and this must've gone against every nerve! I wonder
my good friend Marsha just shared her thoughts on my short message regarding
the Aunt Bee character actually hurting a kitty in High Noon when in reality
Frances Bavier as we all know ADORED CATS It stands to reason tho we cant
prove it but its quite possible, the writers knowing her love for cats
it
so she can sleep. imagine what Frances Bavier must had thought to herself
knowing as we all do that she just LOVED cats. I find it funny and
ironic.Thank you. Tom Kessel Col.Tim's protege reject God bless you all.

I have seen many pictures of Frances Bavier playing Aunt Bee, but I've
NEVER seen a younger picture of her. I'd read that though she started
out wanting to be a teacher, she actually started acting in the late 20s.
There MUST be professional pictures of her somewhere. Does anyone know
of any
