While watching the Roger Hanover episode, I started thinking about the
people who came through Mayberry and messed up the karma of the residents,
like Roger. Most were one timers but a few came back, more than once, like
Ernest T., the fun girls and Jim Lindsay. Who else? There were also those
who
Funny how when you think of TAGS you really don't think of the color episodes.
I had forgotten about Barney's visits from Raleigh. However, we don't actually
see him sleeping there; he didn't come down to breakfast or say goodnight and
head upstairs, and I don't recall any particular line

You didn't say if the overnight guest list had to be of the human
persuasion. There's the three birds, Opie's bird Dickie that flew the coop,
his assorted fauna and lest we forget the worm in the apple and Blackie, Opie's
imaginary horse. Oh, and then there's the drunk rooster, or was it a
Well done to everyone who chimed in on this question. Ken thought of every one
I had in mind with the exception of Barney, who stayed there when he visited
Mayberry in one or two color episodes.
I don't think Ernest T. Bass, Jim Lindsay, Billy Hollander (rich kid from camp)
or Captain
The other day Jim/Nancy asked how many different folks stayed overnight at
the Taylor home. I've been thinking (without a bucket on my head) and I've
thunk of 23 of them. Rather than just list them all let's make this my next
trivia challenge.
Name every human character (besides Andy, Opie
Andy, Opie and Aunt Bee were very hospitable and always had the welcome
mat out. So who all were overnight guests in the Taylor home!

On the subject of Mayberry Days visitors, have either Al Checco or Allan
Melvin
been guests? I know Allan passed away a few years ago.
This is strictly by memory and please help me out with people I have missed,
but
I'll start with:
Doug Dillard (has attended every festival), Betty Lynn
One of my favorite episodes of TAGS is A Date for Gomer. I have always
enjoyed seeing two lonely delightful people like Gomer and Mary Grace come
together for an evening of true innocent romance. Mary Grace Canfield did
such a wonderful portrayal as Mary Grace, Thelma Lou's nice cousin?
Don't recall anyone mentioning Sen. Canfield, Ret., staying there. Isn't he
just the cutest man! Wish he hadn't retired, I would like to vote for him
'cause he's from my favorite place - Mayberry!
Just want to say a big THANK YOU to the powers that be for the Digest. I enjoy
reading it as I
The guy with the treasure map stayed there, didn't he? I believe his name was

More hotel guests:
1) Thoms A. Moody, the guest of honor
2) Keevy Hazleton
3) The fake FBI man who put knock out drops in Barney's milk (I think)
I think there may be more, but my bucket is missing..
Brad Neil Bentley Cunningham

I don't know if I'm worthy enough to be called a trained noticer or not, but I
did think of another hotel guest-Keevy Hazelton. He was a rock-n-roll singer
who had stopped in Mayberry to rest and got pestered at the hotel by some girls
wanting autographs as well as being invited over for some
I've noticed Asa behind the desk at the hotel, John Masters - who referred to
himself as the Reservation Clerk and Jason, who was caught up in the Ed Sawyer
frenzy. But, I can only remember a few guests:
1. Ed Sawyer ( in a freshly painted room )
2. Jean Boswell ( that supposed college kid
