My favorite use of a percussion instrument was when Barney bought the Andres
Kostelanetz Marchers and wanted to play the cymbals in the town band. Have
seen Stuart Erwin, who played Tom Silby in Opie's Charity, has been on several
of MeTV's Perry Mason's lately.

There's one more that I don't think anyone mentioned; it isn't a true musical
instrument, but Howard plays a large upside-down pot as if it were a drum in
Andy's Old Girlfriend. That's the color episode in which
For some reason I thought of something right off and am surprised nobody else
has mentioned it. At the end of the episode where Bea, Clara and Myrtle go to
Mexico, Andy, Howard and Emmett are playing their souvenir maracas.

I don't think this percussion example has been mentioned yet, if so pardon the
redundancy but on Howard's New Life Howard Sprague tries his hand on a few
bongo licks over there in the Caribbean Islands!

The gypsy gal played the tambourine. The visiting band, Bobby Fleet I
believe it was, had a bearded guy who played a drum when they marched
around the corner to impress the mayor. I believe there was a drummer in
the 3-piece band for the class reunion episode as well as the community
dance at
Barney and Howard played bongos... Barney played cymbals... The band played
drums The Sultan played drums...

Drums were played when the Mayberry band played to convince the mayor to
let them go to the state capital. Of course Barney played the cymbals.
Barney also played bongos. The drummer with Bobby Fleet drummed on the
jail bars with drum sticks when Jim Lindsay played his guitar. Ernest T.

many instances of folks playing musical instruments in or near Mayberry. The
challenge is to name all of the PERCUSSION instruments we see on TAGS.
