There is nothing better to relax a hard day than watching Barney scared out of
his wits in the Rimshaw House. I love it!

I've always been fascinated by the Rimshaw House and love the episode. Why
would such a stately house would be allowed to go into such disrepair? How
long had it been vacant and what ever happened to it? Beyond the episode
itself, I wonder if the set had been used again, either on TA
Yes, it's the Munster's house also... among others. Like the Bates house in
Psycho. It moves from movie to movie and TV show to TV show. Sometimes B/W,
sometimes color. If you watch enough old western TV series, you'll see the same
train, no matter if it's pulling into Laramie or Dodge City or
The Rimshaw house is actually Mrs. Wiley's house! They just made it look all
spooky. Notice the yellow house that Arnold and Opie walk next to while playing
baseball. That is the house across the street from both Andy's house and Mrs.

In my rather long epic poem "The Sites of Mayberry", I had to leave out a
few very important places. However, I felt so bad not including the Rimshaw
House, I did a short one just about it. Hope you don't mind my posting here
for you, as I know many of you enjoy that episode
No, the Rimshaw house was definitely not the house used in "The Munsters". The
Rimshaw house was actually Mrs. Wiley's house next door to Andy's house in that
episode. Watch carefully as Andy, Barney, and Ernest T. leave Mrs. Wiley's
towards the end of the episode.

Haunted House episode and the Ghost and Mr. Chicken, both mentioned

This was originally Aunt Pittypat's house in "Gone With the Wind" located on
the 40 Acres backlot in Culver City. It has appeared in many TV shows and
movies over the years and was sadly torn down with the rest of the backlot in a
redevelopment in 1975.

I think Frank Myers house is across the street from the Rimshaw house, at least
that's what it looks like from the shutters.

I've watched "Gone With the Wind" so many times that I much of it committed to
memory, but I guess because it was in color and TAGS was b/w for the first few
years I didn't get the connection to Pitty Pat's house. And I suppose because
it looked so forlorn I didn't recognize it in other conte
Isn't the Rimshaw house also the Munster's house?

I must have been thinking of The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.where's my bucket?

The Rimshaw House was the brick house to the right of Andy's house. It was the
Rimshaw House as well as Mayor Stoner's house. I can't say for sure but it
possibly could show up in two other shows. In Gomer Pyle, Sgt Carter's mom
lived in the Taylor house so next time t
TAGS fans,
Have any of you ever seen the Rimshaw house in any other show? I figure it's
just a back lot façade and was probably in other movies or TV shows. I was
looking at it and I could see it fitting in with any old western, or even as a
house in New Orleans. Of course, it may ju
Sam,
The Rimshaw House was originally built as Aunt Pittypat’s House in “Gone With
the Wind” and located next door to Andy’s house on the former 40 Acres backlot
in Culver City. Kipp Teague’s outstanding site on the backlot has some great

I think the good folks of Mayberry should have a Halloween Party at the old
Rimshaw House. They could have floating axes, moving eyes, and lots of
moaning and groaning. Barnie could dress up as old Mrs. McGruder or else a
bride. People could get pushed into closets and Orville Monroe could
The Rimshaw house is the Aunt Pittypat house, located next to Andy's house
on the 40 acre lot. They "dressed it up" to look run down.
