I gladly accept Joe's nomination for "Trained Noticer of the Month." ;-)
As for his question about where "The Ball Game" was filmed, I asked George
Lindsey (Goober) himself that very question back in 2006. He told me the ball
field was filmed in the San Fernando Valley no
I was listening to Sirius Radio this morning. They had a discussion
regarding a statue of Lucille Ball that has been up a number of years.
Apparently many of her fans are complaining about the likeness to Lucy.
They said when people were asked who they thought the statue was, many

An ellipseoid? An oblate spheroid? Wow, Orville, your education was worth
every penny.
Nobody mentioned miniature golf. This was in the episode where Goober took out
cousin Gloria.

I thunk of another ball game in Mayberry. Cannon Ball shooting. Remember
when Goober and Warren hit the station wagon with a cannon ball when
shooting off the cannon.
Also how about Girl Watching with Fred Pruitt and the Darling boys. They
used their eye balls. And believe me watching girls

Keith got SKEE BALL, which is what I was hinting out when I said someone played
it out of town with a relative, and also MINIATURE GOLF, which most folks would
agree is distinctly different from regular old golf. I had forgotten about the
miniature golf reference.
Sorry Ken, but ogling girls
Another game I thunk of was at the carnival we saw both Andy and Jerry with
a ball that must have been part of a carnival game where you through a ball
at some bottles to know them over.
I also now remember that Barney mentioned to all the girls he had come to
Andy's house something about
call a football a ball, and
that's good enough for me. I never specified that the balls had to be
spherical, after all.
I'm thinking of still three more games or sports mentioned on TAGS which
require a ball.
Here are some more hints: one is a sport that men (and less often, women) have
Several comments about basketball and one even saying they don't remember
basketball ever mentioned. But there's a basketball hoop in the Taylor's
driveway if I recall correctly And nothing has been mentioned about Aunt Bee
and Clare being on their basketball team at Sweet Briar Normal.
Opie played football and baseball.
Andy told Opie that he wanted a basketball for his birthday.
Bowling: Andy, Helen, Goober, Emmett, Howard and the opposing team.
Golf: When Andy and Barney were going to join Roger and his friends.
Pinball being played when Andy was slugged in the eye.
Howard
I remember golf, tennis, basketball, football, baseball and polo. Polo
sticks out in my mind the most because I love the tune that Aunt Bee and
Clara sing!

Andy sure got a bad sunburn and stayed out by the pool a long time, in
addition the trees were in full bloom and all.
Maybe it was around Labor Day? Who knows?
I agree. Why would there be a Harvest Ball in the summer? Wikipedia states that
Harvest Moon occurs just before or just after
While being snowed in one day this week, I watched the episode where Andy
went to Raleigh and met with the attorney Lee Drake. Everyone was so
excited about the Harvest Ball and Andy had Howard take Helen for him. I

I believe it was Emma Watson who said she was not buying her cotton balls from
the drugstore at Christmas.
What did she so with those cottonballs anyway?

Just saw the episode The Ball Game, which always fascinated me because of
its airdate: October 3, 1966. That was *way* outside Little League/school
