Our small town drugstore was opened on Sundays until noon. People would
stop on their way home from church to pick up the Sunday papers from the
big cities and quite often pick up a half gallon of ice cream which was
always wrapped in a newspaper to keep it cold. The only time the store
closed on
"But why?didn't they make homemade ice cream?"
My memory--not a trained noticer!--is that they discussed fetching from the
drugstore, then thought of homemade.
