The gypsies had a tambourine and Barney had his cymbals. I'm not sure if an
accordion would count since it has a keyboard.
If at first you don't succeed, try and hide your astonishment.

In the episode where the church is trying to by an organ from a gentleman. (I
don't recall his name in this episode but he also played Mr. Hendricks, the

Andy plays the organ briefly at the home.

I remember one other episode where Andy plays the piano, albeit briefly. It is
"Barney's Physical" from season 5. Barney finds out he doesn't measure up to
the new civil service requirements. Andy is sitting at the piano playing a few

I believe Andy was once seen carrying a horn and mentioned playing it in one
of those town band episodes. In real life, I think he played many

Andy absently plays a few notes on Aunt Bee's piano in "Barney's Physical" when
he and Aunt Bee are trying to figure out a way to make Barney taller and

No, doesn't appear that Aunt Bee could play the piano.
It really didn't look like Barney was playing the harmonica at all.

Andy, if I am recalling correctly, was a music and religion major at a Moravian
university (as we say in Canada; college as is said more commonly south of the
49th) He was a tuba and trombone major. In
I know for sure he played four. Of course the guitar many times, and he
played a horn of some kind when the Mayberry band went to Raleigh, and then
he plucked a few notes on the piano when telling Aunt Bee about Asa's chin
contraption, and then he played "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" on the
