Make sure you have up to date Virus Protection and do not open any
attachments from anyone you don't know. Do not take any notice of any
bounced or undelivered emails as this one sometimes pretends to be just
such an item.
I had one come with an email but Norton trapped and deleted it.

More reasonably, if you receive an attachment that you are not *expecting*,
even from someone you know, check with them before opening it to ensure that
they sent it and it is safe to open.

That's one of the nice features of Outlook 2003, you can set it to disable
picture download. And if you want to selectively enable it for individual
pictures or messages.
Kind of interesting to see what messages have hidden pictures.

anti-virus program detected all but the first one. It updated its
definitions between the first and the next few.

You're right, I finally took the time to explore my isp's spam program
and turned off viewing images. Also, the spam program said the same
thing you did about the images being some kind of receipt for the sender.
