Hi all,
we're currently extremely busy for preparing the 2012 contest :) I suggest
to focus on that and keep discussions like this waiting for a month or two.
Not because they're not important, but because they are not time-critical
now :)
Thanks!

Very good point, would it be possible to change the rules for next year so
that people can load images as and when but only submit them to the contest
in September?

Please let's not discourage people from uploading images immediately -

Hi WSC,
there is actually no "international" contest. You only take part in a
national contest, or some contests in plural if you happen to have
photographed monuments from more than a single country. And if you are
lucky enough, your photos will then be nominated by your national jury
to the inter
I see the Geograph as a contest in a way that Flickr definitely isn't -
many Flickr photos are in private lists aren't they? However if the
Guinness Book of records says otherwise, well they are a reliable source
and I'm an unreliable one :). As for getting an article on EN wiki, that

They also advertised this competition as the world's biggest last year but
they got "only" 18000 pictures :

If Geograph is a contest, then Wikimedia Commons too. And Flickr..., come

Hi WSC,
the official number we are propagating to the media (and also the one
we used in our application for the Guinness Book of World Records) is
168,000. This would make Wiki Loves Monuments the biggest photo
competition in the world; if we're going to break this number this
year (and I am sure

Hi,
Has anyone worked out how many images we need for this to be the world's
largest photography contest? I know we got 188,000 last year, and the Geogra
Hi,
Geograph is not a contest (it is a project, but you can't win something
with it afaik), so we don't have to worry about that. The Guinness Book of
World Records has a number in the 120k as the largest - we definitely beat
that. We had 168k by the way, not 188k. The only contest that I know tha
Hi,
Has anyone worked out how many images we need for this to be the world's
largest photography contest? I know we got 188,000 last year, and the
Geograph is now over 3 million, but I don't know whether there are any
contests larger than the Geograph.
I think we have a good chance of it being th
