Hi fellow SF Wikimedia people!
I've gone down one of those rabbit holes where you find an entire category
that needs a ton of work, and this one is English Wikipedia's articles
about the history and practice of tattooing. I'd like to organize a virtual
editing event to recruit more people to edit
g them that far. Is there something specific you could use help

Hi everyone,
Reusing some of the work from the SFMOMA virtual editing session I helped
with last month, I'm helping staff from the African American Museum &
Library at Oakland and the Oakland History Center with this upcoming
virtual editing session on May 26:
Hi everyone,
As part of the Art+Feminism campaign, I'm helping SFMOMA host a virtual
edit-a-thon on Tuesday March 9 from 4-8 pm PT, and you're invited:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/San_Francisco/Art%2BFeminism@SFMOMA_2021
I haven't really seen any "local" virtual events
Wonderful! I also live in Oakland and would be excited to help. I've
supported a bunch of local in-person editing workshops in a range of ways,
and I'm up for seeing how I can help with virtual events as well.
In case it's interesting to look at, this was a local Black History Month
event last
Hi everyone!
Would you be able to help with an upcoming Art + Feminism edit-a-thon
at California College of the Arts on Thursday March 15? Their Digital
Scholarship Librarian is looking for a Wikipedia editor to do an initial
training for new editors and help new editors during the event.
It'll
Hi everyone,
The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art will be hosting its first
edit-a-thon on Thursday March 8, 5-9 pm, and they'd love for local
Wikipedia community members to participate, and to help mentor brand-new
editors there (if you can).
This will be an Art + Feminism themed event, at
Hi everyone!
Encouraged by User:Nikikana, I'm organizing a Wiki Loves Monuments
photowalk on Saturday September 16 at 1 pm:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/San_Francisco/WLM_Financial_District_photowalk_2017
- starting in Chinatown and heading down through the Financial District.
That's so cool! I'd be interested in this if anyone from the SF area plans
to drive there and is interested in carpooling. (I'd be happy to share the
cost.)

Hi everyone,
At the recent edit-a-thon at SOMArts for "The Black Woman is God" art
exhibition, an attendee asked me for help finding a Bay Area Wikipedia
editor interested in improving articles about U.S. college and
universities, such as adding neutral and verifiable information about
graduation
Sending along an invitation from Monica Westin:
Please join organizers from SOMArts, the California Digital Library, and
Art Practical in San Francisco on the afternoon of July 22nd for an
edit-a-thon dedicated to increasing the visibility of women artists of
color on Wikipedia. This edit-a-thon
Hi all! This meetup event about contributing to MediaWiki as a technical
writer may be of interest to other people on this list, at the Wikimedia
Foundation office on Thursday, May 4 from 7-9 pm:

organizing it, just planning to
I just heard about this cool edit-a-thon tomorrow (Sunday March 12) from
1-4 pm at The Lab:
http://www.thelab.org/projects/2017/3/12/wikipedia-edit-a-thon - "a DIY
campaign to improve archives on marginalized populations and address
information gaps in our collective knowledge". The space is close
I can run an edit-a-thon group! I have a list of articles at
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Dreamyshade/In_the_news_articles (topics
recently in the news that are marked with needs-improvement tags) that I'd
be happy to work with people on editing, including helping newcomers get
started. I
Hi SF Wikimedians!
At previous events I've mentioned to a few of you that I'm working on an
idea to teach a "Wiki Law School" advanced editing workshop primarily for
people underrepresented among Wikipedia editors, which would be focused on
how to successfully make higher-impact
Hi Bay Area people!
There are two Art+Feminism editathons (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/ArtAndFeminism) happening in
San Francisco in the near-ish future, and I'd like to encourage you to sign
up for them, especially if you can help mentor new editors. These events

I'd propose a time slot for collective storytelling about amusing
weirdnesses from the first couple years of Wikipedia. I could contribute
some stories, and I'm sure other people would have a lot of stories too -
to remember that the idea of amateurs writing an encyclopedia from scratch
was a wild
