One thing is that Wimax wont certify gear in the 700 , 900 or other bands
and the other is that Manufacturers release gear in those band with the same
specs of Wimax, just without the Wimax logo...

Ive got two clients that are running linksys routers
from the same store all bought within a week of each other. Their routers are
programmed for static IP but they will work for a little while and then try to
pull a DHCP ip which I have setup for splash page. Seems to me this batch of
I know that the Linksys Wireless-G routers "V5"
that are on the shelves now have firmware issues. One of them is obtaining
a DHCP-assigned address from a Windows2000 DHCP server. Firmware v1.00.4
fixed this, and I see that v1.00.6 is out now with even more fixes.

I've found that silicon has something in it that corrodes connections.
especially those in rf connectors. I think it's amonia or something like
it. Anyway, I only use silicon to seal the building penetration these days.

Uncured silicone contains acetic acid (cheap formulations may contain
some after curing) and might corrode reactive metals. I THINK that the
silicones that have a low odor also have lower acetic acid content.
BTW, acetic acid is what gives vinegar its punch.

Then you get the guy who sets his router back to
factory defaults on the advice of tech support brother-in-law...
I try to support everything out of the box: IP
address changes, MAC address cloning, etc. so that when they hold that little
button in for 10 seconds it doesn't generate a phone
I actually got clarification on the Pacwireless solutions yesterday.
2 ft feeds do not work for 3 ft dishes, different lengths.
The PacWireless is a dual pol feed on a 3 ft dish, but only has the gain of
less than a 2 ft dish.
The purpose of upgrading from a two foot to three foot was to
Use 2 Pac Wireless single pol. 3footers ? $500

After the last batch of linksys router fun, (when they would respond at

recommended routers for customers.
They are pretty much trouble free And I have never had to upgrade
their firmware...

fyi linksys has released the wrt54gl, where 'L' stands for linux. as
y'all probably know they've moved the formerly customizable
linux-based wrt54g and gs series to vxworks; the wrt54gl should remain
somewhat more stable. but that's just hearsay; anyone try it yet?

Thanks Blair.
She was the one who I talked to. I understand it was an old order, but
I still didn't get it. It was my first order too, so I have no history
with them.
They must think I am trying to pull one over. I keep my gear in three
places. Living room, basement, and garage. The
it has the Chester cheese doodle mount
Lol...would you mind posting a pic of what such a mount looks like?

When you compare the Andrew and Gabriel mounts there is no doubt the
Andrew mount is more substantial, but it also appears to be over
engineered for a relatively small dish. We prefer the Gabriel mounts
over the Andrew since they are lighter and easier to work with, but not
too light like
I also post when I am pleased with a vender too. Here is one.
Demarctech sent me 48 b/g zinwell boards a month ago to replace the

That was pretty awesome to see Tony stand behind his product. GO TONY!
Well then what should I do.
Brian,
This is one reason distributors use packing slips. Did you keep a copy of
it? Did you check the merchandise off when it came in? The burden of proof
will be on you and your due diligence. If they have a packing slip that
says it was in the box then I would guess your out of luck if you
Brian,
I have to agree with Rick here. When the box arrives, check the
contents against your order ASAP! We also power all equipment on to at
least be sure it passes the 'smoke test' right away.
Another reason for this testing is that many distributors will pay
shipping both ways on DOA
I didn't exactly check it all off because I didn't know what to look
for. I looked through it and it looked fine. The part that is my
fault is I didn't know exactly what everything was I was ordering. I
called them up, said look at so and so's invoice and sent me the same
thing. It's fine the

What are others doing to resolve these issues with the Linksys WRT54G GS Routers? What about openWRT.org firmware? They claim their firmware works with a long list of Linksys and other devices. What are your experiences with this firmware if any, I know some of you guys are using it.

I have recommended Linksys routers since the

feature that you like better, but all in all they have been very good

Basically, Brian (right or wrong)
Well.I sure don't want to cause all that. I am going to call Chase
and tell them it was a mistake. If I intended to "get back" at anyone
it was the vender, not all the fine WISPs who are happy with this
vender. I don't need you all mad at me.
