I hate radios at the top of the tower so I'd like to run coax cables to an enclosure at the bottom and add amps to make up for the loss. I'm looking for a 9 mile link. The drop is 150 feet. At any rate, I found an old RG8/U cable. Will that work on 5GHz? I also have LMR400? If not, what would you r

I have and still do, in some cases, long, (100ft+), cable runs. LMR-400 is the minimum cable size for that on 2.4GHz. You will need an amp. At 5GHz, I would expect LMR-600 or better. However, at 5GHz, I think I would go with tower top radios. I doubt that you will get good results at 5GHz w
