It may be the result of competition from tablets. Laptop manufacturers are
nervous about competing tablet vendors, many of which do not make a PC, so
all of a sudden they are competing directly with Motorola, Samsung, HTC and
RIM. Plus Apple has such a huge lead on the market.

I have seen the same, including tablets and phones, except a few like the
Blackberry Playbook and Blackberry Torch that have dual band cards. Very
disappointing...

Every year we purchase a handful of laptops to get a sense of how well the new
laptops that freshman are coming in with will perform on our network. Ideally
we like to test laptops with 5Ghz 11n, and since we've upgraded all our
residences to 11n this summer, that is even more important. I have

That's correct - both 5.x and 6.x have named VLAN pools. 3.3 & 3.4 did too.
The question asked if you could apply a named VLAN pool (or even a pool for
that matter) to a specific role instead of just making it the default for a
Virtual AP profile config. You cannot apply a named VLAN
I believe on OSX you need to set special permissions to trust EAP for the
certificates.
