BLE is designed to avoid issues with WiFi due to low power and frequency
hopping. Certainly no guarantee that there won't be problems, but I would dare
anyone to demonstrate it as an issue noticeable at the user level. It would
actually be pretty cool if someone could come up with a good way to

Yes the ATV is on wired but the client(who uses BLE to discovery ATV) is always
on wireless, which means the campus WiFi network is around. So this Bluetooth
thing could still be disruptive to WiFi. It doesn't scare me neither based on
its low Tx power but still a concern.

We are doing it via Bluetooth with wired apple tv. I also have some doing

course the client is wireless. The last option is the worst as f

It sounds great. But I still have concerns about the interference. We have been
educating people not to cause interference to campus WiFi network and then
encouraging people to use Bluetooth for ATV just sounds like self-contradicting
to me. Is it just me having this concern?

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone is having issues with iMessage on Apple devices on

users have started complaining about iMessage not working on their device while
they are connected to our wireless network (secured or un

Are you running client exclusion on your 802.1X SSID? If not, it is worth
looking at- I guarantee it. Can fill in more if interested.
Been there, done that.

It was 1.2 fully patched. We haven’t upgraded to 1.2.1. That’s disheartening to
hear though as we were hoping an upgrade would fix the problem.

This doesn't give the convenience (and speed) of one-click to turn off all APs,
or to turn off specific ones, and then one click to turn them back on again.
The PowerDsine GUI also allows for scheduled downtimes (nice for maintenance
windows).

We found the BT discovery does work ok with wired LAN. A few of the network
guys weren’t too happy about the inability to disable the Apple Sleep Proxy
Service. It can cause a little bit of bonjour hell, as they called it, if
bonjour is enabled on the LAN. The BT discovery we found was a bit unr

Lee,
Do you assign a static IP to the ATVs or just let them get a lease? If the
methodology is discovery using BLE then handoff to layer 3 it seems a DHCP
lease should suffice. Is there any advantage to knowing the IP address of these

Thanks Lee. Yes I believe you are correct. No ATV discovery over BLE yet for
MacOSX. I misspoke about that earlier. Maybe this will be announced tomorrow
and we'll forget all about the lack of iWatch announcement! ;-)

This is exactly what we're doing, and so far our biggest Appleheads are happy.
But... only works from iOS so far, no BTE pairing from OSX yet (unless
something changed very recently).

Apple TV discovery over Bluetooth Low Energy is a welcome workaround for
enterprises which block mDNS on their wireless networks. I see plenty of
discussion about ATV discovery using BLE over wireless. What about when the ATV
is connected to the wire?
I'm curious if anyone has successfully use

Yes, I am fully aware of the CLI commands. But they don't give me the speed of
a GUI nor the easy comparison of watts drawn by the devices.

Command line show power inline with the "|" include should work out well.
You could also have a programmer develop something for you. You would
just have to walk the SNMP tree and take port descriptions and power
levels. Also, if you use Cacit, check for a plugin that will graph total

John,
Can't help you with the GUI end but you can achieve what you want with
some simple CLI commands:
