I applaud your good will Dave,
But like I mentioned, we've had this conversation before. Point by point.

Now that would solve a few problems, wouldn't it?

For the day when it's legal to build alternative interpreters or compilers
for proprietary languages that are wholly owned by a corporate entity.
This is not the first conversation about this topic.
Besides, even with Phil's blessing, this would be no small effort. I

Why have you been waiting?
Wouldn't this make an excellent source forge project?
It could even be open source and free. All we need is

Thank you Ian,
Your insight is always invaluable.
And yes, I've been in support of the "Save As .Net" idea for at least a

Hi,
Is there a lot of other traffic on your mail server from other sources?
Have you tried using the @EMAIL and @EMAILSESSION tag instead of the base

I have very much appreciated this discussion, and have pondered it some.
I don't care to weigh in with anything too profound, except to perhaps
challenge Scott's assertion arounnd the definitions of "middleware" versus
"enterprise." (see below for a portion of Scott's post)

We've been having a recurring problem with Mail Actions locking up the
Witango Server. We've had a lockup once a week for the last couple weeks.
WiTango probably sends out 50 to 100 emails per day and they generally work
fine. The one causing the lockup seems normal - the from address is valid

It's cheap, and quite versatile. Look for three two, especially:
"expandable, collapsable DHTML Tree"
"dynamic option list"
Something there has to help with what you need.

Hey Boys!
Just as an aside, I believe you can return just data as well, it
doesn't necessarily have to be xml, which would make it possible to
write the js to populate a list box on the server side and return the
js to execute (maybe as a js array?)
Its a little bit hackerish, but I found when I
Hi Dan,
Yes. I thought the terms were interchangeable. :)
Basically, you add an onchange event handler to each select box that invokes
the XMLHTTPRequest to fetch your .taf with the select box's currently
selected value as a GET attribute to the page. Then you parse the XML
document and use it
I agree that the project leader should determine the DBMS. The only
issue is what kind of project you're hosting at SF. If it's a
community effort, then the choice of db will influence the number of
developers who can contribute, andk the project leader also needs to
consider features that ar
Mike I don't need drop down lists but drill down lists will this still work?

I would suggest that there really doesn't need to be a 'standard' for DB connectivity. I don't see why you wouldn't just post what you developed it in. If someone wants to do a 'port' to another DB, that's what it's all about.
I think Bill's suggestion about picking a license is important. I didn'
Hi Dan,
I've done a fair amount of work with something called the XMLHttpRequest
object that can be used quite successfully to accomplish this. It is
compatible with all of the major browsers, and I have gotten it up and
running in IE, Firefox, Netscape, and Safari for our own applications.
