Did you ever resolve this? (My suggestion doesn't work and I am now getting the
same problem.)

It doesn’t help.
My properties are secure, but are still logged:

StartType on the ServiceInstall table is not listed as a "Formatted" type.
Only formatted types can accept Windows Installer properties. I don't think
it's possible to do what you want with WiX markup. Possibly a custom action
could be made to handle it.

I just started using WiX last week. I've managed to create a wxs file
and successfully compile it into an msi file. The msi file seems to
work fine by double clicking on it. I tried using setupbld to wrap the
msi in a setup.exe, but when I attempt install using the generated .exe

I get "unsupported compression method" for directories, but none
I just tried again with 7-zip and do indeed get the "Unsupported Compression
Method for" error but the files do extract ok - personally I think there is a
bug in the compress code.

I think I'm trying to use Burn for something it wasn't designed to do. I
wanted to confirm with experts.
I started out by creating a WiX MSI for my application which works great. I
need to be able to install .NET 4.0 and SQL Express so I setup a Burn to handle
this for me and call my MSI.

Is there a way to set the Start property of a Service defined in
ServiceInstall via a command line argument to msiexec? You can do this for a
lot of properties, but Start is an enumeration and the compiler seems to
want to ensure it is one of the allowed values at compile time. Are there
any ways t
You are right it extracts (copies out) correctly using windows explorer.
However win7zip shows the same errors.
Thank you for your assistance. Much appreciated. I am still little concerned
why the extraction did not work with WinZip and win7zip.

I do not have any issues when I open the file using WinZip, 7zip and Explorer.

This seems to only happen if you use WinZip to extract the file, if you open it
with Explorer or 7zip it opens ok.

Hello, Hans anyone else found that the source code file "wix37-sources.zip" has
errors when unzip is used. Error: "Unsupported Compression Method for" 339
folders. Please let me know which tool was used to compress create the file.
Thanks.mohamk
Has anyone else found that the "cancel" button on the error retry dialog
in WixStdBA doesn't work (in 3.7 RC)? I find clicking it displays the
same error with an OK button before just retrying anyway. The error when
this occurs is "Could not access network location".

What would cause that? If I run the install manually it appears to
upgrade, even running it through burn I only see one product code in the
registry.
