Is there a release date for 1.2.1 estimated?
You can download the latest release candidate at
http://wpkg.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/wpkg/wpkg/stable/1.2/
Currently this would be v1.2.1-RC25.
Rainer hops to release v1.2.1 soon, but it needs more testing of the users.

No, the %version% thing is OK. It's a bug in the log system.
It is picking up the %version% fine.
You have some sort of problem in checking the install.
