Yes, my computer has been rebooted several times. I am told that the "default device" soundcard was deleted despite that having been what I had been using.  I was told that too many people had not bothered to configure the sound so were transmitting too much garbage and so you (developers) remo

Hi Dave, thanks for spotting that typo! I didn't have to reboot after using the locale-gen command, I didn't try the GUI tool so not sure with that route. 73 Bill G4WJS. On 04/02/2021 22:44, Dave Slotter, W3DJS wrote: Note: The instruction of "sudo dpk-reconfigure locales" has a typo. It sh

Note: The instruction of "sudo dpk-reconfigure locales" has a typo. It should be "sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales" (missing a "g") Also note that you may have to reboot after performing this operation. -- Dave Slotter, W3DJS On Mon, Feb 1, 2021 at 2:43 PM Bill Somer

[wsjt-devel] Release 2.4.0...

Hello, I would like to know if as happens normally,  2.4.0 will supersedes 2.3.0 in the future. Asking this because I never used the new modes (FST4 FST4W  and now Q65)  introduced recently in WSJT-X, nor I think to be going to use them at all. Of cour

I have had similar thing happen to me several times during new installs. I found that in WSJT-X if I clicked on the sound card choice, (which says “Blank” I think) it will show the correct sound card as a choice ….simply choose the correct sound card and all is back to normal. Ken K8HTL Sent

Please keep in mind that 1838.0 to 1838.2 is the low power WSPR spectrum. It should be protected from other signals and intermodulation, as well as suppressed SSB carriers, like they often can be found on 1840.0 (FT8 dial). I agree that the FST4 dial frequency could be a bit lower, but there sh

One feature in FT8 that I would love to see is a TX ratio setting similar to wspr or fst4w where 1/4 1/5 1/6 ratios can be selected allowing more cool down time with little loss in contacts made. I use those on 630m to good effect. On Thu, 4 Feb 2021, 7:52 pm Alan Groups, wrote: > Keeping therma

Keeping thermal stress on the system - rig and PSU - by turning power down at least a bit from full output makes sense to me with these modes, whether or not rig ratings demand it, particularly as any reduction in received signal strength will be minor. More heat = more risk of failure regardl

Hi! If your rig has FM and has full output power there without warnings of FM TX period lengths the PA should handle it. FM, or CW carrier on, are most closest to continuous tone modulated SSB. As Reino says AM must have smaller carrier for modulation reasons. Reino Talarmo kirjoitti 3.2.2021
