Why do you want more than 16-bit?  That would increase dynamic range.    Currently WSJT-X will only use 16-bit. Our current recommendation is to set the audio level in WSJT-X at 60dB and use slow AGC.  Slow AGC should prevent the AGC from increasing the signal level during the quiet periods in F
