Is there an advantage to allowing multiple copies of the daemon to run,
instead of having it do one of the following:
- Either kill previous instance(s) of the daemon and replace it with a new
running instance, or
- Abort the start of the new instance when a previous running instance is
detected?
Is that the issue that caused my problem at

My Xubuntu 11.10 machine is 64-bit and I was seeing the same symptom.

John,
The readme I linked explains how to do it. Basically, you have to re-run
the configure script and re-build the library from source to produce a v7
or v8 ABI-compatible version.

Those bug threads actually make me *less* nervous. The first one explains
that libjpeg-turbo is just a derivative of standard libjpeg that uses SIMD
instructions to accelerate functionality by 2-4x. The second mentions that
there have been improvements to libjpeg-turbo to make it ABI-compatible

Thanks, Mike. Let me know when a new Windows x2goclient client with
built-in support for XFCE is available and I will give it another go.

Mike,
As I mentioned in a separate post (before I read this one), I am trying to
get x2goserver-xsession working with Xubuntu. It doesn't seem to do
anything out of the box for me, and I don't understand what I need to do
from what you've said so far. This unfortunately looks a lot more
complicate
Mike,
I've added the nightly PPA and installed x2goserver-xsession on my Xubuntu
box (plus upgraded to the nightly versions of the other x2go packages). How
do I now configure the Windows x2go client to take advantage of
x2goserver-xsession?
Thanks,
- Ben S.

He's saying that he's got Lubuntu installed over the top of Ubuntu and is
trying to log in using x2goserver-xession, but is getting the default LXDE
desktop instead of the Lubuntu-branded version of the LXDE desktop.
This is similar to what I was hoping x2goserver-xsession would fix, except

I plan to test it with Xubuntu as soon as it goes to the stable PPA.

Hi Mike.
Can you elaborate a bit on what this does?
This sounds like it might fix the issue of x2go showing stock Xfce desktop
settings instead of Xubuntu-specific ones on Xubuntu.
Currently I'm working around this by having x2go call a custom script that
does "export XDG_CONFIG_

Andrew,
Does this happen using the x2go package versions in the stable PPA (*
ppa:x2go/stable*)? I experienced the crashing issue with the nightly/testing
PPA (*ppa:x2go/ppa*) on Ubuntu 11.04, but on advice from these mailing lists
I reverted to the stable PPA versions and the problem went away.
