By the way what is the difference between an object and an item?
Items are basically objects that don't include a timestamp in the packet
format. Objects are better supported in APRS software than items are, so
it's safer to always use objects instead of items. I understand

Lucky me that I didn't state it as a fact. I was just reading up on Bob's

IMO, OSM is a useless kludge.
There are no specs for coordinate systems, datum, etc. That means each

How do I get aprsd to connect to the AX.25 interface

The catch here is to have the right variant of aprsd. The one

Hi,
I just noticed that some compressed objects tend to creep a little in
location after being created in Xastir. Here's an example:
I created a non-moving compressed object (I left speed/course/altitude
fields blank) with a location of N 60 12.011, E 024 56.171. The first
location field of
I just cvs-updated my Xastir, but still can't see compressed objects on
my map. I can see the packets in Xastir's net.log just fine, they just
aren't displayed on the map. station - filter data - select
objects/items and all subselects are active. I can't remember when those
objects stopped
