Ok, Laptop is resurrected (found a similar one with a working
screen).. burning 6.10 now (its newer I know)... how far down the

Ubuntu 6.06.
Ubuntu's current version of Xastir installed without a hitch with Synaptic.
Now, my plan is to un-install Xastir, and fetch the latest CVS stable
version.
I'm doing this on a clean machine, with a fresh, inst
