Good to hear the Translation stuff is moving again! :)
Is there a way that addon authors can still use something similar to the
old approach where the translations are manually downloaded and applied
by the author of the addon?
I can imagine this would be useful for addons

I completely agree with you.
I actively develop the Krypton (master) branch and push the same changes to
Jarvis and Isengard if possible. That means that I push the exact same language
files from master to the other branches (to get the updated translations). I
only remove
