Bruce,
Before you move to xcat 2.6.2, I'd like to double check your config first
:) since you are using "makedns -n", it should always work in xcat 2.6.1
as long as your config meets the requirements below:
1. makedns needs the nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf on management node

Dear all,
I'm doing some tests with KVM in xCAT and i'm having some trouble
connecting to the vm's console.
Here's what i'm doing:
[root@xcat ~]# xcatclient getrvidparms kvm1
kvm1: method: kvm
kvm1: textconsole: /dev/pts/0
kvm1: password: LVSRoiOlyvB5Zn9R
kvm1: vidproto: vnc

Dear all,
I would like to request that we update the KVM virtualization docs
(http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/xcat/index.php?title=XCAT_Virtualization_with_KVM):
- it does not explain we need to set a nodehm entry for the vms:
[root@xcat xCAT_plugin]# tabdump nodehm
#node,power,mgt,cons,term
Sure, make it so.

sense.net should be resolving. I'll look into it tonight as well as get a
secondary setup through XMission.

I just renewed xcat.org for another 10 years.
Both of the registered DNS servers need to change. Speculation.org could
go away at any point; I no longer have any control there. ns.sense.net
isn't resolving any more.
Let me know and I'll change them to whatever you want.

Currently, even in the 2.6.2 release xCAT does not support a domain name
that does not have any "dots" in it.
For example if your domain is "cluster.net", it is fine. If you domain
is "cluster", makedns will not work.
A defect 3384808 has been opened.

They are on the web right now. Go to the down load page. It was done
today so you might need to refresh. We also have a new Linux deps package.
I sent out an xCAT 2.6.2 release note earlier.

The question here would be where to draw the line between required (e.g.
pulling in rpms that you aren't going to use) and optional features.

I believe there is a dependency issue that isn't resolved via the xCAT
rpm repos :o).
When i run mkvm to create a kvm VM i get:
[root@xcat ~]# mkvm kvm1 -s 4G
Error: Sys::Virt perl module missing or older than 0.2.0, unable to
fulfill KVM plugin requirements
[root@xcat ~]#
When i installed xCAT,
Lissa,
Thanks for the information. I'll look into updating. When should RPM's
of the updates be available?

I just released 2.6.2 with numerous fixes for makedns. You might want to
upgrade to it and also take note of the release notes for 2.6.1 and 2.6.2.
There are some requirements on setup for makedns to work with the new
ddns.pm. At least at that point you will be working with the lastest
makedns
Thanks put in defect 3384808 for testing.

Jing,
Thanks for the information. Unfortunately I'm not seeing any db.*.jnl
files being created, nor are the zone files being populated when I
restart named. When I run makedns it does seem to be doing *something*
since it takes about 4 seconds for it to complete, but nothing shows up
